Went to MPH Subang Parade last night to start my hunt but it turned out to be a disappointment. Their selections were not as rich as before and most of the computer books were badly arranged. The books I wanted were no where in sight. Infact, there weren't any Apress books around (except for one - I think). Not giving up, I went to the terminal to do some searches but the results returned nothing. Went home very disappointed.
This morning, I called up the Midvalley branch and I was told that they only have Foundations of OOP Using .NET 2.0 Patterns in stock. The other two were not listed in their titles. I'm quite surprised to hear that since those books were published more than 6 months ago and it usually takes them only 3 months to get the new titles. Not sure what happened to them this time.
Drove down to the mall and I'm glad to see that everything in MPH Midvalley is still in order - unlike the Subang Parade and Summit City branch. I did try to check-out some other titles but they weren't exactly what I needed. There was one book on GDI+ Programming in .NET 2.0, very tempting for my Stickies.NET development but I dropped the idea. There was also the thick Professional SQL Server 2005 which I held on for more than 30 minutes before putting it back on the shelve.
Anyway, I've got one of the jewels I wanted and that should keep me busy for a while.

Ever since I've gotten internet connection in 1996, i've stopped buying books.
I try my best to find online information or participate in forums or search forum history to get the information I needed.
I feel books nowadays in Malaysia are not worth the money and they cost too much.
Before 1997 financial crisis, it was easy for me to buy 1 book per month at rm 60 and below. Nowadays, almost all IT books costs rm 130 and above.
Some books go for over 200 ringgit, disasterous!
I got SLAR volume 1 and 2, Professional ASP.NET 2.0 and more biz book from MPH 1U.
1U seems to have a good collection of books though.
kinokuniya have huge collections of IT books..expecially from Apress, Wrox, Wiley. but they still don't have the Lhotka's CSLA book.still new kot.maybe I should wait few months before it is available here..
Hi boox,
I agree with you that the price of books have gone up tremendously. But you shouldn't let that stop you from gaining knowledge.
Maybe instead of one book a month, you can get one book for every 3 months?
Jonathan,
1U izit? Got it! Will roam there next time. Do they have shelves of Apress books?
rasBlog,
Don't know why but I never like to visit kinokuniya (eventhought it is so near my office). Maybe I will drop-in there one day to checkout their selections.
There is a 2nd Edition for Lhotka's book coming. Probably we will get it 3rd half of the year.
