After much persuading and 'hard-selling' from Azizi, I finally installed Skype - an internet telephony application that looks much like our Instant Messengers but delivers high quality audio for voice chats. Comparing to the audio capabilities of MSN Messenger and Yahoo!, this application kicks @$$.
The audio quality produced by Skype is clear and there is hardly any audible background noise. You can also talk at ease without worrying about interrupting (or blocking) the conversation.
I like the classic *duut* *duut* tone when calling contacts. Feels just like a phone. I think this is a cool app. Try it out guys! You can save some money on oversea phone calls.

Have heard of it lots of times but never really tried it. I will give it a shot. Is it free?
I mean is the calls free?
I think so kua... Azizi said it is. Otherwise, I will go belasah him.
It is definately one of the cool apps out there...
All you need to do to make it more like a real phone is to buy one of those USB Phone like handsets.
The other good thing with Skype, is that you can use it like a real phone (if you so happen to need to) and call real phone numbers (Skype Out feature), at a cost cheaper than most international calls by your regular telephone provider.
The voice clarity is so high because their audio compression from what I hear does an auto-detect type of thing. So if you're on dialup, it adjusts to suit your speed. (This info may or may not be entirely true... It's a rumour as nobody knows the true facts)
Also, being P2P, you can use the other "nodes" on the network to help share the load.
I remember how clear the voice chat I had with someone when I was still on dialup! It was so clear.
Skype rocks because it's free!
Jie Jie, it not really free lar, only free if you make calls from Skype to Skype =( That's what I understand la from their website...
Of course I'll be using it for calling Skype buddies. Don't intend to use it to call normal phones anyway.
From PC to PC, Skype is absolutely and truly 100% free. I can talk to Serena for hours (??!!??) and it will only cost me my bandwith. Thats it.
Skype also sells coupons of sorts that you can buy so you can call to land lines and mobiles. I found it slightly dearer than those phone cards I buy to call home. But only slightly.
Wanna know something even cooler ? Skype is avialable for PDA's!!! Download it to your fav PDA ( chucked one in my XDA ) and connect to the wireless network and bob's your uncle!
BTW, my Skype ID is : azizikhan.
Cheers.
